A MAN­DURAH man (47) has been charged with pos­sess­ing stolen fish­ing reels worth $4000 af­ter he was ar­rested by po­lice dur­ing Op­er­a­tion Sweep tar­get­ing crime hotspots last week. Se­nior Sergeant Dave Stephen­son said it would be al­leged the reels and other stolen prop­erty from an Au­gust 13 home bur­glary were in the man’s car when it was pulled over and searched on Dodd Street about 11am on Au­gust 20. The man has been bailed and will be sum­monsed to reap­pear at Perth Mag­is­trates Court at a later date.

A THIEF said he was go­ing to his car to get his wal­let when he took off with two bot­tles of Pen­folds wine worth $1650 from BWS bot­tleshop, Cam­bridge Street, on Au­gust 18. Po­lice said the Cau­casian man was seen se­lect­ing a cheaper bot­tle, which he left at the counter af­ter say­ing he needed his wal­let.
