City Supports LNG Conference

Western Suburbs Weekly - - City of Perth News -

The City of Perth will play home to the world stage in April next year, with sponsorship of a major international gas conference. For the second time since 1968, Perth has been chosen to host the International Conference and Exhibition on Liquified Natural Gas (LNG 18), the first and only City to be granted host rights twice. The event is expected to attract more than 5,000 participants from 70 countries, representing 700 of the world’s leading LNG companies. Lord Mayor, Lisa Scaffidi, said LNG18 would be the most significant event to be held in Perth since the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 2011. “It is a coup for Perth to be selected to host this important conference, the only City to be chosen for a second time, and for the City of Perth to be involved,” Ms Scaffidi said. “By 2017 Australia is expected to produce 87-million tonnes of LNG, ranking the nation above Qatar as the world’s leading LNG exporter. “It makes sense to hold this conference in Perth, as WA is home to more than 300 international companies servicing the oil and gas sector, with more than $148 billion worth of LNG projects under construction or committed to. “The City looks forward to working in conjunction with the State and Federal Governments, to ensure a successful conference, which will generate an expected $45 million in delegate, exhibitor and visitor expenditure.”
