THE 18-carat gold Melbourne Cup will be in Perth today and tomorrow and punters can get a free close-up view at Travel and Sports Australia this afternoon.

The $175,000 trophy will be at the business’s new Mt Lawley mega store (1/544 Beaufort Street) from 4.30-6pm.

Melbourne Cup 1994 winning jockey Wayne Harris will speak at the event.

The former Subiaco-based business is among 33 stops on the tour across Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia.

Travel and Sports Australia owner Paul Ramsay said most people had to put in years of blood, sweat and tears to get this close to the Cup.

“So the thought of being able to hold the trophy for a race with so much history is pretty extraordinary,” Mr Ramsay said.

Guests will have a chance to win a trip for two to Flemington for the Melbourne Cup by uploading their photos with the Cup to social media.
