Mela dishes out the love for kids in Nepal

THE 7th An­nual Kathmandu Kids Fundraiser gives North­bridge’s Mela In­dian Sweets and Eats own­ers Shelly and Sacha Gre­wal an op­por­tu­nity to give back.

“Given the re­cent events in Nepal it’s im­per­a­tive we all step up and help where and how we can,” Mrs Gre­wal, of City Beach, said.

In­dian chefs from the 10-year-old res­tau­rant have been pro­vid­ing their sweet and savoury del­i­ca­cies for the fundraiser for the past few years.

This year, of­fer­ings will in­clude tan­doori items, Afghan chicken and mini samosas along with bite-sized sweets that Mrs Gre­wal said the res­tau­rant was renowned for.

“”We’ll pro­vide food you could get walk­ing down the street in Delhi,” she said.

The Mela In­dian team is among food and bev­er­age sup­pli­ers and vol­un­teers who do­nate their pro­duce and time to en­sure ev­ery cent raised goes to­wards Kathmandu Kids, which sup­ports the Sunrise Chil­dren’s Or­gan­i­sa­tion in the Kal­i­mati slums.
