Higher density plans mooted

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Western Opinion - By ROSANNA CANDLER

SUBIACO Council approved the first stage of a Town Planning Scheme (TPS) amendment to allow higher density in parts of Daglish, including Cunningham and Stubbs terraces and Luth Avenue, in July.

Following assessment by the WA Planning Commission and Environmental Protection Authority, the City of Subiaco will advertise the proposed amendment for public comment.

Cunningham Terrace resident Stan Davies opposes the amendment.

“It seems unfair that some owners have the opportunity to subdivide and some do not,” Mr Davies said.

Councillor Garry Trinder said council should put the amendment out for public comment and “get it out to our community”.

“Now is the time to get this done,” Cr Trinder said.

Cr Paul Clements said is would be “a pain” to raise residents’ hopes if the plan could not be supported on planning grounds.

“Everyone is limited by the TPS,” he said.
