Village expansion on agenda for director
ONE of the biggest issues facing the Ocean Gardens Board has been the expansion of the village, says recently reappointed director Simon Withers.
Mr Withers, who is also the Town of Cambridge Mayor, said there were hundreds of people on the waiting list.
“And demand is going to keep growing,” Mr Withers said.
“In the past there has been a strong focus on property; we will be able to focus more on services.
“A lot of people coming in are for health-related reasons and they’re moving from independent living to more assisted living.”
The Town of Cambridge voted to approve the reappointment of Mr Withers and Anthony Kinder as directors of the board at its August 25 meeting.
Mr Withers’ appointment is for a 12-month term, expiring on October 19, 2016, and will be his last term because of a clause that prohibits a director’s reappointment from exceeding nine years.
“That (clause) was something I introduced about six or seven years ago,” Mr Withers said.
He said the board would make a succession plan for his position.
