Men’s group a success

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Health -

BETHANIE Riversea staff have seen “great results” from a men’s group at the Mosman Park aged-care facility.

Since November last year, the male residents have engaged in a weekly group to play cards, bocce or other hands-on activities designed to encourage interaction.

Mt Claremont resident David Chapman said he volunteered to run the men’s group once a week.

“It’s very femaledominated here, so it’s good for the guys to get together,” Mr Chapman said.

“They don’t necessarily engage, but it’s just a chance to get together and have a beer without the ladies around.”

Riversea resident Roy Litchfield said he had very different hobbies in his past.

“One thing that has always been a hobby of mine is shooting,” he said.

Therapy assistant Juanna Choi said of the various activities for Riversea residents, the men were happiest to come along to this group.

“They know it’s just the guys and they can enjoy each other’s company and have a chat.”
