CONDUCTOR-musician Perry Joyce has led two of his choirs to victory in the inaugural Go Gospel Choir Competition held in Perth on Saturday, August 29.

Rejoice Gospel Choir won the first prize of $10,000 plus a four-hour recording session with one of the competition sponsors, and youth choir West Australian Young Voices won third prize in the competition.

“Around the time I had learned of the competition, I had also been seriously researching gospel music in the hopes of forming my own choir dedicated to the genre, so the timing really couldn’t have been more perfect,” Joyce said.

The musical extravaganza at Regal Theatre, Subiaco, paved the way for the finalists to enter possible future national competitions.
