Thieves pull the rugs out

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

POLICE suspect a stolen folding wheelchair was used to carry Persian rugs to a stolen Volvo when a $170,000 haul was taken from a Lupin Hill Grove, Nedlands, home on September 18.

The thieves entered the property through a garage at the back of the home between 10.30am and 3pm.

“They got in through the internal door between the garage and the house,” Sgt Geneff said.

The thieves took six rugs, one of which was described as depicting a hunting scene, another coloured green, cream and gold, and a third that had a mostly brown, floral motif.

Stolen jewellery was estimated to be worth about $70,000.

All the stolen property was loaded into a silver, 2012-model Volvo XC60 that had not been recovered late last week.

Perth detectives are investigating the crime.
