TASTE OF WORK WAS MEMORABLE

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Western Opinion - St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls work placement student Josie Brierley

HAVING the opportunity to embark on such a beneficial work experience placement at Community Newspaper Group has given me an inside perspective on a journalism career. For my work experience I thought I would just be fetching coffee or photocopying, but to my surprise not only were there no photocopiers or coffee machines, I was actually taking part in real jobs that journalists spend years working towards. In the short but memorable five days, I was able to meet many inspiring people, sit in on various stories, write briefs, go to the Royal Show and even hold a snake! I have gained knowledge that I will definitely use in preparation for the future and discovered a helpful insight into a career I am extremely interested in.
