Stars add to festival magic

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Fashion -

THERE were unicorns, rainbows, A-list celebrities, lunches, brunches and, of course, fashion.

It was the 17th annual Perth Fashion Festival and while there were dozens of shows throughout the week, Belinda Cipriano has chosen her highlights. OPENING NIGHT:

High-end boutique Dilettante opened this year’s Perth Fashion Festival, showcasing designers 33 Poets, Toni Maticevski and Yang Li on the runway.

Maticevski, the star of the show, showcased his latest spring/summer 15/16 collection featuring feminine silhouettes and beautiful construction in crisp white and metallic hues. MYER LUNCH:

Always a sell-out, this year’s lunch at Ascot Member’s Lounge featured a delicious two-course lunch accompanied by Australian wines.

Myer ambassador Rachael Finch took to the runway, taking over from festival heartthrob Kris Smith, wearing Alex Perry, Yeojin Bae, and Perth designers Morrison and Aurelio Costarella. JAIME LEE:

Designer to the stars Jaime Lee Major showed off her Lightyears Collection in true Jaime Lee form, with real-life Barbies, unicorns, a robot disc jockey and a shower of confetti. TARGET RUNWAY:

The popular free runway show featured Jessica Mauboy in a catwalk appearance in Danni Minogue for Target, as well as a performance by the pop princess. WHEELS AND DOLLBABY

The closing show of the festival did not disappoint.

An entrance by burlesque queen Dita Von Teese enticed the audience, with a sultry walk down the runway introducing the label’s latest collection.

Von Teese and models of every shape and size sashayed down the catwalk in the label’s signature style, which included pencil skirts, cinched cardigans and Jessica Rabbit-style gowns.
