WHEN Jasmine Segler’s personal trainer told her he would be willing to pay for healthy, convenient food, her business Active Eating was born.

“I told him if he paid me, I would make him healthy meals that would fill him up longer than a food court salad that was most likely dressed with something sugary and fatty,” Segler said. “The ethos behind the business is to provide nutritious, balanced meals for people on the go.”

A former fly-in, fly-out worker, Segler said nutritious meals for busy people were hard to come by.

“I used to come home and buy a bunch of food with great intentions and then end up eating out and throwing away produce,” she said.

“This way you can have some meals in the freezer, you can grab them when you don't have plans and you aren't spending hundreds of dollars on food you are going to end up throwing away.”

Segler managed gymnasiums on mine sites and said people were looking for fast food options but did not want to sacrifice their health.

“You don't have to be a fitness fanatic to eat them; I have some clients who just want good quality food that is easily accessible,” she said.

“They can be eaten as lunches at work, or dinners after a long day when you don't want to cook but you know you shouldn't eat take-out.”

Active Eating offers a range of meal options customers can choose online, made to order at its Osborne Park kitchen.

Segler said the locally sourced produce set Active Eating apart.

“I use a local butcher who has free range and organic meats, so you know you’re getting a high quality protein source,” she said.

“I make all my sauces and marinades from scratch, allowing all my food to be gluten, dairy and refined sugar free.”

Active Eating meals and snacks range from $3 to $12 and the business offers a home delivery service. Visittiveeat
