Water polo kids make a splash

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

YOUNGSTERS will strap on their bathing caps this summer as flippaball season starts.

City Beach Water Polo Club junior development director Damian Kelly said October 16 would mark the start of the club’s second flippaball program.

Mr Kelly said it was a way to introduce children to the sport in a safe and friendly environment.

“There is Auskick, Minky Hockey, Kanga cricket, so we want kids to learn to love the sport at a young age as well,” he said.

“There’s no question we need to introduce water polo to a wider group of people.”

The flippaball program includes children from years 2-5 playing mixed half-hour, non-contact games where no scores were kept.

“This gives families a chance to become familiar with the game before the Rio Olympics,” Mr Kelly said.
