Celebration of local produce

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

SUBIACO foodies will celebrate the best of local produce at the Jacks WA Food Fest on October 10 from 10am to 2pm.

Farmer Jacks Crossways director Fred Fairthorne said the local food scene had successfully “weathered the storm” following the closure of Pavilion and Station Street markets.

“The village community here is close knit and we’ve come together to be creative about putting Subiaco back on the map,” Mr Fairthorne said. “We’re truly excited to see the Markets on Rokeby launch at the end of the month, but for now Farmer Jacks want to give something back to the local food businesses who are a big part of the community.”

In collaboration with Buy West Eat Best, Farmer Jacks will supply produce to local chefs Stephen Clarke, Kiren Mainwaring and Jason Hutchen to create meals for the public to taste.

Bistro Felix owner Jeremy Cariss said he was thrilled with the concept.

“It’s a great opportunity to be part of something positive in Subiaco,” Mr Cariss said.

Farmer Jacks Crossways was recently refit with Buy West East Best branded produce.

“Their refit and generous donation to the Subiaco food community sends a strong message to consumers about their support of the local food industry,” Buy West East Best business development manager Melissa Italiano said.
