FORMER Newman College student Sian Redgrave will battle it out with 11 other contestants on The Great Australian Bake Off this month.

The show follows contestants as they are put through their culinary paces and face elimination rounds.

Ms Redgrave was in the class of 2008 at Newman College and graduated from WAAPA.

“I wanted to take part in the competition as I have always loved the British series and was so ecstatic that it was being produced in Australia,” she said.

“I had also at that time come to a realisation that I wanted to pursue cooking as a career so it all came together.

“My favourite thing to bake would be cakes; I love decorating, so anything I can apply visual flair to, I adore.”

Ms Redgrave said her strengths were in decorating and plating, while here weaknesses included shortcrust pastry and tempering chocolate.

Maggie Beer and celebrity chef Matt Moran host the show, which airs on Foxtel.
