Wanslea noted at UNESCO awards

THE restora­tion of Cottes­loe’s Wanslea, hous­ing the Can­cer Well­ness Cen­tre, has been recog­nised with a honourable men­tion at UNESCO’s Asia-Pa­cific Awards for Cul­tural Her­itage Con­ser­va­tion this year.

The restora­tion pro­ject was short­listed for the awards af­ter re­ceiv­ing the Gerry Gauntlett Award for Con­ser­va­tion or Adap­tive Re­use of a State Reg­is­tered place at the 2015 WA Her­itage Awards.

Her­itage Min­is­ter Al­bert Ja­cob said the UNESCO judges noted the pro­ject’s “sen­si­tive ap­proach to em­brac­ing and ar­tic­u­lat­ing the multi-lay­ered history of the site”.
