Aldi plans to give longer leases to tenants

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

SUPERMARKET giant Aldi is expected to extend all Captain Stirling Shopping Centre tenancies to the IGA’s lease ending in 2024, according to Nedsavers co-ordinator Barry Nunn.

The German supermarket chain purchased 11 specialty shops and the IGA supermarket in April this year.

“Negotiations are proceeding between the retail traders and Aldi’s leasing agent with respect to the extension of leases on the site,” Mr Nunn said.

“As well as Aldi taking an active interest in establishing a presence on the site, it is understood that Woolworths may still wish to plan a development, but of a scale reduced from previous plans.”

Mr Nunn said the City of Nedlands had recently established a Captain Stirling Neighbourhood Centre committee.

Among other things, it has begun measuring traffic in some surrounding streets off Stirling Highway.
