Expert advice to help beat bullying

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Street Watch -

PREVENTING bullying among children is the subject of a Winthrop Professor’s internationally recognised research.

UWA and Telethon Kids Institute Professor Donna Cross will present the latest strategies and innovative ways to prevent and reduce bullying at an upcoming free forum.

Commissioner for Children and Young People Jenni Perkins, who will co-ordinate the forum, said bullying was an issue in her conversations with children and young people across WA.

“(Professor Cross’s) research is recognised worldwide and she is able to translate this work into practical strategies that help parents and those who work with children to identify when bullying is occurring and take appropriate steps to address it,” she said.

The seminar will also include presentations from WA School Psychologists Association president Eileen Kuruckchi and two young people involved in the Cyber Savvy research conducted in WA schools.

This free event will be held on October 27 from 7pm at the Churchlands Concert Hall. For bookings, visit www.trybooking.com/IYYK.
