UWA Little Athletics Centre (UWALAC) held its first day of competition for its summer 2015-16 season on October 17 at McGillivray Oval in Mt Claremont.

UWALAC committee member Ruthy Tolcon said the club was proud to achieve record numbers for its new season.

“The first day of competition is exciting no matter what age group you are in,” Tolcon said.

“The under-7s, many of whom have been waiting for their sixth birthday to arrive so they can join in the fun like their older brothers and sisters, are always delightful to watch.

“As athletes grow older, their events become more challenging, either by increased weight for throws or increased distance for runs.

“The under-11s this year have been introduced to Fosbury flop instead of scissor kick for high jump.”
