Heartfelt thanks to an army of volunteers

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Western Opinion -

I HAVE been humbled by the army of 120,000 volunteers from across Australia who joined the Heart Foundation in the fight against heart disease by volunteering to collect or donating to our cause.

Sadly, heart disease affects one in six Aussie families, taking a life every 27 minutes.

We aim turn this around by continuing to fund lifesaving research, promote best-practice care for heart patients and effective prevention programs. However, we could not do this without the big-hearted Australians who took the time to support us this year.

For those who donated or collected be assured that every donation to the appeal will help us in the fight against heart disease.

The money raised will support cutting-edge research projects, information materials for heart patients and advocacy for changes in the local environment to allow better nutrition and more frequent physical activity.

Donations are still open and can be made at bigheartappeal.org.
