Batsman Jake in fine form
YOUNG batsman Jake Whiteaker continued his excellent early season form as Claremont-Nedlands built a strong score against Fremantle in Premier Cricket last Saturday.
Whiteaker top scored with 86 as the league leaders put together a fine first innings total of 8-323 from 91 overs after winning the toss at Stevens Reserve.
The opener made his 86 from 200 balls with 11 boundaries, taking his season tally to 245 runs, the fourth most in Premier Cricket.
He received good support from Tim David (63) and Chris Brabazon (54) as the Tigers built from a strong platform of 1-144.
Elsewhere, University is in a strong position to make it two wins in a row with victory in sight against Rockingham-Mandurah at Lark Hill after day one.
Fast bowler Alex Penter took 4-54 to elevate to second top wicket-taker with 19 in Premier Cricket this season, as the Mariners were rolled for 176.
