Council accepts clean-up costs

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Western Opinion -

COTTESLOE Council will spend an extra $24,000 to clean its contentious public toilets under the Indiana Restaurant for four months from December 1.

After last week’s meeting was closed to the public, councillors decided to take the money from the budget and tackle long-standing public and Cottesloe Ratepayers Association complaints about the unclean facilities.

Restaurant leasee Redrock Ltd will contribute $16,000 to the four-month cleaning regime, in addition to being required to clean the toilets for any private functions held at the restaurant.

The company will also be required to continue general maintenance of the facilities.

Cottesloe Ratepayers Association secretary Yvonne Hart welcomed the council’s decision.

“But they are doing a job which is the leasee’s responsibility,” Ms Hart said.
