Swags to give homeless cheer
St Vinnies’ Carl Prowse with Agency Property Partners CEO Paul Niardone. ST Vincent De Paul Society (St Vinnies) has collaborated with Osborne Park company The Agency Property Partners to provide swags to the homeless this Christmas.
St Vinnies distribute the swags to a range of individuals experiencing homelessness, including families who are unable to secure emergency shelter and are forced to sleep on the streets.
Social enterprise manager Carl Prowse said for every $95 raised, St Vinnies could provide a homeless person with a waterproof swag.
“We generate 88 per cent of our funding ourselves from non-government sources, so we rely greatly on the generous support from the community,” Mr Prowse said.
“Currently in WA there are around 9600 people experiencing homelessness and this number has grown by 17 per cent in the last six years, and is continuing to increase.
The Agency Property Partners chief executive Paul Niardone said government services were decreasing for people in need.
