After merry dance, just happy at home

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Christmas -

WE spoke to former Dancing With The Stars instructor Carmelo Pizzino about what he will get up to this Christmas.

What does Christmas mean to you?

I spent a lot of Christmases away from home, so this is the first time I have been home for quite a while. Normally Christmas has been working or with friends, so I think this year Christmas is about family.

What do you do on Christmas day?

Being Italians, we just eat. Eat and argue (laughs).

What is your favourite Christmas food?

We don’t really do the hams and things like that but the last few years to be honest has been like Domino’s in a hotel room. So that’s been the last few Christmases for me: room service and a bottle of wine and watching Love Actually on TV by myself. As a family we still do lasagne and pasta and meat and prawns; it’s a big day. We do that for lunch and dinner as well.

What is your Christmas wish this year?

As it has been so long since I have been home, my Christmas wish is to spend quality time together with my family and have a laugh and have a few drinks and get to see everyone and spend time with people.

What is the best Christmas present you ever gave or received?

I think the best Christmas present I gave my mum was coming back and living in Perth (laughs). She’s loving it. And the best Christmas present I got I think was Boxing Day at Kerri-Anne’s (Kennerley) house drinking champagne by the pool, teaching me how to play golf.
