Plan for pageant

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Christmas -

PEOPLE planning to catch trains or buses to the Christmas Pageant this Saturday night have been warned to bear in mind the big crowds and changes to normal public transport services.

Transperth spokesman David Hynes said the pageant was one of the most popular community events in Perth.

“Our team works for months to ensure we are fully prepared for the annual pageant, and this year is no exception,” he said.

Extra train services have been put on to help the crowds of up to 150,000 get into and out of the city. After the pageant, passengers travelling north on the Joondalup line will need to use Perth Underground, and passengers heading south on the Mandurah line will need to use Esplanade Station.

“No Mandurah-bound trains will stop at the Underground, and no Joondalup line trains will stop at Esplanade,” Mr Hynes said.

Some bus routes through the city will also change due to road closures.

The Pageant operates from St Georges Terrace to Adelaide Terrace, commencing 7.30pm.
