A Fresh New Look for Barrack Street
Retailers, motorists, pedestrians and cyclists are experiencing the new two-way conversion of Barrack Street.
Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said the Barrack Street two-way project was a massive undertaking and the City was thankful to affected retailers for their patience during the sevenmonth project. “The new two-way street features dedicated cycle lanes and provides a new southbound route to Barrack Square Jetty and Elizabeth Quay,” Ms Scaffidi said. “In addition to the new traffic direction and cycle lanes, new street furniture and bike racks will be installed over the next few months.” The Barrack Street two-way conversion helps to improve accessibility to the City and ensures its road network and infrastructure will be ready to accommodate the demands of the State Government’s major infrastructure developments. “With new developments like Elizabeth Quay and Perth City Link expected to attract millions of visitors once complete, it is important we, as custodians of the City, continue to improve our facilities and infrastructure to accommodate future demands,” Ms Scaffidi said.
