Shot man faces charges
MAJOR Crime Squad has charged a 27-year-old Bayswater man after an investigation into an incident on Tuesday, June 23.
About 8.30pm, the man attended a house on Samson Street, Mosman Park.
It will be alleged the man confronted a 23-year-old woman, whom he knew, armed with a firearm and a baton, then hit her with the baton.
The man allegedly ordered the woman into the living room of the house where three other men, aged 22, 23 and 26, were sitting.
On hearing the commotion, a 59-year-old woman entered the living room.
The man allegedly ordered the five occupants to comply with his demands.
Police, Tactical Response Group officers and a negotiator attended the scene.
It will be alleged about 11.15pm the man exited the building with the firearm in his hand and approached police.
He allegedly ignored instructions to drop the firearm and was shot by police.
While on the ground the man pointed the firearm in the direction of police and he was shot a second time and disarmed.
The man was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for treatment and later transferred to Fiona Stanley Hospital.
He is still receiving treatment for injuries he sustained.
The 23-year-old woman suffered minor injuries.
The other four people did not require medical treatment.
The officers’ use of force in relation to this matter has been examined and it has been determined their actions were lawful.
Major Crime Squad charged the man with one count of aggravated burglary and being armed in a way that may cause fear, five counts of detaining another and one count of aggravated assault.
He has been summoned to appear at Fremantle Magistrates Court on Friday, December 18.
