Ricciardo home for SpeedFest and Xmas
FORMER Newman College student and Duncraig resident Daniel Ricciardo wowed his home crowd with tricks and speed in the 2011 Red Bull championship-winning RB7 V8 at the inaugural Perth SpeedFest on Sunday.
More than 9000 revheads revelled in the track action, which included some of the world's biggest drivers and riders from 25 different forms of motorsport.
Ricciardo who was the headline act for the event, said he was happy to be home for the festive season, where he would be spending time with family and friends.
“I’m looking forward to hanging out with friends, camping, fishing, riding and just having a good and relaxed time really,” he said.
He added he enjoyed the atmosphere of the event and the vibe from his home crowd.
“It was really special to get out there and put on a show for the fans in Perth and bring the F1 car to them,” he said.
“The day was all about having a good time and that's what we did.”
Event director Greg McNeil said it was a terrific day that truly celebrated all manner of motorsport and motoring.
