Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

ROTTNEST Island will have a fireworks display on New Year’s Eve for the first time in more than 100 years.

Rottnest Island Authority chief executive Paolo Amaranti said it would be a spectacle for people on their boats and on the island.

“Every year we have a great New Year’s Eve but we wanted to create some atmosphere for Rottnest,” he said.

“Over time as the fireworks grow, the coastline of Perth will look over to the island and see them taking place.”

The fireworks will be ignited and launched from a barge.
