PERTH jazz singer Jake Dennis took to the stage alongside 13 well-known children’s characters to raise money for Lifeline WA at the Lake Monger Christmas Festival late last month.

As part of efforts to fund training for crisis life support in December, children gave a gold coin donation in exchange for a photo with their favourite life-size characters such as Elsa from Frozen and Captain America.

Lifeline WA chief executive Fiona Kalaf said the Christmas period was the busiest time of the year with the national crisis support line receiving a call every 37 seconds.

“It costs $3000 to educate each volunteer for the telephone crisis support service, with many months training and one year probation,” she said.

Well-known children’s characters staged a fundraiser for Lifeline.
