IT has been a wonderful 2015 in the world of fashion and 2016 looks like it will only get better with a bunch of designers set for big things.

My list of designers to watch out for includes Ange Lang, Catina Designs, Jomay, CDQ and Jonte.

Lang’s Worldlust is a mono tailored ultra sleek collection of evening jumpsuits and gowns made from silk and lace.

The designs are perfect for red carpets around the world, being sophisticated and a little bit dangerous.

Lang has been part of online e-tailer Nineteenth Amendment, based in New York, for more than a year.

Nineteenth Amendment presents independent designers from around the world and sells their collections online in 45 day pre-sales.

Any garments sold on Nineteenth Amendment are manufactured on the designer’s behalf in the US, giving designers and retailers a risk-free way to bring fashion to market.

Catina Designs’ spring summer 2015-16 collection Mystic applies a fresh approach to previous collections. Each design is created around the female body as a blank canvas, constructed using beautiful draped fabrics of crepe and giving the garments effortless fluidity with a soft and smooth feel.

The palette of pastels and radiant colour creates contrasting combinations which perfectly define the strong silhouettes of the collection.

Jomay launched her latest collection at New York Trade show during New York Fashion Week, followed by a collection showcased at Los Angeles Fashion Market.

Her 2016 evening and event wear collection is simply titled Classics.

CDQ is inspired by the aesthetics and raw beauty of nature, embracing the soft textures and colours of flowers, as well as the structured shapes of flower petals.

Since launching in 2014, designer Cindy Pestana has become renowned for silhouettes that are beautifully textured and feminine.

The label went international in November, showcasing at Malaysian Fashion Week.

South African-born designer Jonte Pike has a strong cultural and ethnic base to her designs inspired by her travels and exploration of various cultures, music and arts.

Since finishing her studies at Polytechnic West, Pike has travelled to Japan on a textiles scholarship, presenting her designs at the Nishiwaki Textile Festival. Her self-titled label Jonte was showcased at Perth Fashion Festival and Melbourne’s Fashion Aid.

Some of the designs that will make waves in 2016.
