Vol­un­teer­ing chief signs off sat­is­fied

WA is on the look­out for a new cham­pion of vol­un­teers, af­ter long-term Vol­un­teer­ing WA chief ex­ec­u­tive Mara Basanovic ac­cepted an equiv­a­lent role in Queens­land.

Ms Basanovic fin­ished her ten­ure at the West Perth of­fice on Fri­day, happy that WA has con­tin­ued to forge a strong cul­ture of vol­un­teer­ing.

She said it was pleas­ing that there had been a change in com­mu­nity at­ti­tude in re­cent years to­wards ac­knowl­edg­ing and re­ward­ing vol­un­teers, mak­ing it more ac­cept­able to sing the praises of our of­ten hum­ble unsung he­roes of so­ci­ety.

Nom­i­na­tions for the an­nual WA Vol­un­teer of the Year award, along with awards recog­nis­ing vol­un­teer man­age­ment, life­time con­tri­bu­tions, eth­nic com­mu­ni­ties, youth, com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions and cor­po­rate vol­un­teers, open to­mor­row.
