ONLY TAKE ESSENTIALS WITH YOU TO BEACH

Western Suburbs Weekly - - STREETWATCH - - Senior Sergeant Carole Vernon

Stealing from the beaches is an ongoing, serious issue, and the more valuables people take to the beach the more likely it will become a shopping place for thieves. Our patrols will be focused around the areas used by the general public at the time. If people are at beaches, we'll be there. If it's too hot to be at the beach, we'll be at shopping centres where people go for the air-conditioning. Complex factors contribute to the increase in stealing from beaches and beach car parks, including economic factors and people's carelessness to protect their own property. Just don't take your valuable property to the beach, or only take what you absolutely need, like a towel, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.
