Upgrade plan for heritage civic centre hall
COMMUNITY groups are expected to make even greater use of the heritage-listed Lesser Hall at the Cottesloe Civic Centre, which will get an estimated $653,000 improvement.
“The room is normally used six or seven days a week, with numerous issues on the same day not being uncommon,” a Cottesloe Council staff report said. At the December 15 meeting, councillors agreed to the improvements, including roof and wall repairs, and painting, funded by the $9.1 million sale of the former Nailsworth Street depot several years ago.
The report said the final cost may be lower but the estimate had included $53,000 for contingencies, $51,000 to rebuild the floor and $4700 to remove tiles and waterproof a reinforced roof.
