Dedicated volunteers worthy of rewards

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Western Opinion -

I CONSIDER it is astounding how volunteers are so willing to risk their lives to save others experiencing the most difficult situations.

Volunteers may be selected for suitability, need to engage in regular training and may have out-of-pocket costs for travel, protective clothing and receive no income payments for their efforts.

I suggest the State Government needs to reward Department of Fire and Emergency Services volunteers with retail discount cards and or provide annual ex-gratia payments prior to Christmas each year.

It has been said before, that no greater love can be expressed than to give your life for others. Graham McPherson, Mandurah.
