Drug raid uncovers jewellery
ABOUT $100,000 worth of jewellery has been uncovered during a drug raid on a house in Canning Vale.
Organised Crime Squad Detective Geoff Bull said the jewellery was believed to have been stolen from homes across the metropolitan area.
Det Bull said many of the pieces looked like heirlooms that would have sentimental value to their owners.
“Officers from the Organised Crime Squad executed a Misuse of Drugs Act search warrant at an address in Canning Vale on December 2, 2015, and located a number of items of interest, along with over 150 items of jewellery with an estimated value of $100,000,” he said.
“Many are thought to be of huge sentimental value and police are keen to get them back to their owners.”
Det Bull said inquiries were ongoing.
“With this search warrant we were hoping to seize a quantity of drugs or obtain further lines of inquiry,” he said.
“Further search warrants were conducted elsewhere which related to this one and resulted in the seizing of drugs and firearms.
“To date a number of arrests have been made and inquiries are continuing with other persons of interest.”
