Development gains approval

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Street Watch -

A CONTROVERSIAL development application at 67 Denis Street was approved with some conditions at Subiaco Council last month.

Architect Kim Doepel said he had amended the residential development four times since his first application to council on January 14.

In his public statement to councillors on December 15, Mr Doepel said he changed the three-storey property from fivedwellings to four, reduced the plot ratio and increased landscaping and visitor parking.

“We have made every attempt over several meetings (with the City of Subiaco) and months to develop a proposal that is acceptable to council,” he said.

Denis Street resident Michael Tan, who had spoken against the application three times previously, told councillors he opposed the development and urged them to uphold statutory rules and regulations.

Councillor Lynley Hewett said the City staff had “once again” recommended the application for approval.

“This is about as good as you’re going to get,” Cr Hewett said.
