Walley’s Welcome for theatre launch
OLMAN Walley stepped in to perform Welcome to Country at Barking Gecko Theatre Company’s 2016 launch at Bells Functions last week.
His dad Richard Walley was just down the road at the WACA watching cricket.
Duncan Ord, director general of the Department of Culture and the Arts in WA, commended Olman on his finishing hip-hop beat on the didgeridoo.
“I haven’t heard Richard do hip-hop before,” Duncan said. New Barking Gecko artistic director
Matt Edgerton said Duncan had given him his first job in theatre.
Matt described his first gig at the University of WA as an “OH and S nightmare”, with a prop splitting his head open during a rainy show.
