Charge sheet long af­ter theft

SHEETS and bed­ding were the tar­get of thieves who crashed their util­ity af­ter they al­legedly robbed Sheri­dan’s bed­ding out­let at the Clare­mont Quar­ter shop­ping cen­tre, Clare­mont about 9am on Jan­uary 4.

“It was as they drove off they they crashed into a boom gate, caus­ing dam­age to its sys­tem,” Se­nior Sergeant Ca­role Ver­non said.

It will be al­leged two men were seen walk­ing in the shop­ping cen­tre about 8am, be­fore the util­ity was seen be­ing driven around in an un­der­ground carpark.

“It stopped out­side the Sheri­dan show­room, then did a lap, be­fore the men al­legedly en­tered and stole nu­mer­ous items in­clud­ing sheets and bed­ding,” Sgt Ver­non said.

CCTV recorded the util­ity’s sub­se­quent crash, and Fre­man­tle-based de­tec­tives in­ves­ti­gat­ing sim­i­lar rob­beries sub­se­quently raided a Yange­bup home, east of the port city, about 2pm the fol­low­ing day.

Two Yange­bup men, aged 32 and 35, were both charged with a range of of­fences.

They were bailed to ap­pear at Rockingham Mag­is­trates Court on Fe­bru­ary 4.
