Owner onus on power

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Streetwatch -

NEDLANDS ratepayers will help pay for power to go underground, it was decided at a council meeting held last week.

Nedlands Council authorised three proposals for underground power, with two-thirds to be provided by affected lot owners and one-third State Government grant funding.

Owners from some 2400 lots will pay $1050 a year for 10 years, a total of $2,328,889 a year.

Council also moved to consider $50,000 in the budget for underground power expertise.

Mayor Max Hipkins said council wanted all power in the City of Nedlands to be underground and had about one-sixth of the area left to complete.
