Mental health supported

PERTH Netball Association (PNA) teams will mark the One Life Round next Saturday by wearing blue armbands.

PNA executive officer Troy Starcevich said the aim was to raise awareness of mental illness and youth suicide.

“The message is about having support and being able to talk to people and sport is a good way to do that because there’s that team and coaching support,” Starcevich said.

He said East Perth Football Club started the initiative a few years ago and the WA Football Commission took it on, with Netball WA recently joining.

As part of the One Life Round, Netball WA is offering free mental health training for coaches, parents, club volunteers and players in June and July.
