THERE were some mixed re­sults in the rain-af­fected con­di­tions of the first round of the Perth Net­ball As­so­ci­a­tion com­pe­ti­tion on Satur­day.

In the open division one, Clas­sics had a close 38-34 win over Aran­more Jets in the an­nual Judi Jones Me­mo­rial Game in hon­our of the late former Clas­sics Net­ball Club pres­i­dent.

City Beach Surfers 1 beat Wem­b­ley 46-39 and Scar­bor­ough and Phan­toms had con­vinc­ing vic­to­ries over Ster­ling Saints (45-18) and City Beach 2 (56-27).

John XXIII and City Beach drew 23-all in the ju­nior division one com­pe­ti­tion, Clas­sics beat West Coast­ers 66-36 and Methodist Ladies’ Col­lege had a 49-27 vic­tory over Perth Col­lege.

In the ju­nior Year 7-8 division one, City Beach 1 de­feated Perth Col­lege 42-15, Clas­sics 1 beat City Beach 2 48-7 and Clas­sics 2 had a 37-11 win over Storm.

Town of Cam­bridge mayor Keri Shan­non kicked off the sea­son with a sun­downer last Thurs­day, with life mem­ber­ship awarded to Julie Killen.
