Men linked to thefts
POLICE say a group of four young men may be linked to a spate of at least 15 thefts from cars, the robbery of a pizza delivery driver and a burglary in Subiaco and adjacent suburbs in five days until May 6.
“That’s three stealing from cars a day, on average,” Senior Sergeant Julie Foley said.
Members of the public who are out late at night should be aware of their personal security and secure their valuables, she said.
Cars were broken into in Karrakatta, Wembley, West Leederville and Subiaco.
Items taken from the vehicles have included loose change, wallets, iPhones and small valuables.
Sgt Foley said it appeared the group walked the streets looking for cars with visible valuables.
However, the crime spree escalated when the pizza delivery driver was robbed.
Sgt Foley said four darkskinned men approached the driver when he was in his car in the driveway of a complex of units in Subiaco Road, Subiaco about 10.30pm on May 3.
“They threatened him, demanded money, and he gave them his wallet,” Sgt Foley said.
Police suspect the men were also involved in an attempted burglary at a home in Court Place, Subiaco about 2am on May 4.
