All-abil­i­ties play boost

AN all-abil­i­ties play space planned for Beaton Park Re­serve in Dalkeith has re­ceived $50,000 worth of do­na­tions to­wards the project at a com­mu­nity fundraiser.

The $4 mil­lion play space will be pur­pose-built to cater for peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties.

The do­na­tions will be added to the $1.5 mil­lion al­ready raised by lo­cal busi­nesses and a Lot­tery­west grant.

West Perth Ro­tary Club past district gover­nor Angus Buchanan said the event was a suc­cess and be­lieved the ad­di­tional funds would be raised for the project.

“Af­ter such a pos­i­tive start, Ro­tary is con­fi­dent that with com­mu­nity and cor­po­rate sup­port, they can raise the funds re­quired,” he said.

“It was a great evening full of good­will and en­thu­si­asm for the project. Guests were keen to spread the word about the project to the wider com­mu­nity.”

Con­struc­tion of phase one of the play space is ex­pected to be­gin in De­cem­ber.
