Students help out at clothing sale
MORE than 100 Year 10 students from six schools gave up their Saturday to help raise a record $150,000 at the annual Bindaring Red Cross Clothing Sale at the Claremont Showground recently.
The young volunteers were kept busy rehanging and folding clothes, with more than 3000 shoppers walking through the doors for the fundraiser.
Bindaring Unit president Veronica Morrissey said the involvement of local schools and their students was an important factor in the continued success of the sale, which has raised $1.95 million over 53 years.
