Bag snatcher targets four
A BAG snatcher targeted four women in a spree of at least seven crimes across western and southern suburbs during several hours last Wednesday.
“He was aggressive,” Senior Sergeant Tony Booker said.
The man approached a parked Subaru Forrester driven by a Mosman Park woman who had just delivered her child to Mosman Park Primary School and had her toddler on the back seat about 9.22am.
Sgt Booker said the man banged on the car’s window, opened its door, reached in and grabbed the woman’s handbag, which she grabbed back, before he ran.
A short time later, the man had an aggressive altercation with a woman about whose vehicle would use a parking bay at a nearby Coles supermarket in Monument Street, Mosman Park.
“During the argument, he went to a black BMW X5 nearby, opened the door and grabbed another woman’s handbag, which she grabbed back, but he yanked it out of her hands and ran away,” Sgt Booker said.
Sgt Booker said the man, described as mid-20s, athletic build and with tanned skin, was driving a black, 2007 Holden Commodore, with sport wheels and stolen numberplates, that had been stolen from Belmont about four hours before the first bag snatch.
Later that morning, the Commodore was seen when valuables where taken from a car parked on Roberts Road, Subiaco, and is suspected to be connected to thefts in southern suburbs.
