City plan to go out for public consultation

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

THE City of Subiaco will send the draft Subiaco activity centre plan out for public consultation.

Councillors debated the plan at Tuesday night’s council meeting that details the future of subdivision, zoning and development of Subiaco’s town centre.

Cr Julie Matheson moved the motion to send it for public comment, but spoke against the officer’s recommendation and said she was concerned about the plan.

“It comes with warning signs,” he said. “I am concerned about these activity centre plans in Perth metro areas.”

Cr Scott Arbuckle spoke for the motion and said the plan was essential in getting the town planning scheme across the line.

“There’s a risk that if this is delayed, the local planning scheme will be delayed further,” he said.

Cr Stephanie Stroud said she could not see the risk of approving it, if it was going out for public consultation.

Cr Mark Burns said the document was outdated and a number of the maps were incorrect.

“How do you send it out until it’s correct?” he asked.

“Otherwise you’re asking people to comment on something that isn’t correct.

“I want this out too, but I want it to be right.”

Cr Murray Rowe said the document was misleading and wrong.

“I would like to have this tidied up,” he said. “I don’t want to put my name to it.”

The motion was carried 7-6.
