Rise seen in crime figures
A TWO-WEEK-OLD police operation continues to target crime in Mosman Park and Cottesloe.
“Current crime statistics have shown a significant increase in volume crime offences, including burglaries and stealing from vehicles, particularly in Mosman Park and Cottesloe areas,” Senior Sergeant Tony Booker said.
His officers and those from other stations have been patrolling streets in the suburbs near locations of suspected offenders.
“Using a plain vehicle and officers in plain clothes, a number of well-known addresses of prolific volume crime offenders, and known drug dealers were targeted with the marked vehicles conducting patrols of nearby streets,” Sgt Booker said.
The patrols removed anyone who may have been arrested and stopped vehicles driven to and from addresses of suspects.
After this month’s patrols, a Swanbourne woman (27) was charged with an alleged blood alcohol level of 0.225 per cent. She will be summonsed to court at a later date.
Police stopped 34 cars for random breath tests, searched 25 and issued 15 traffic cautions.
