Three-hour parking plan
THE City of Subiaco will vote this month on plans to trial three-hour free parking in Subiaco.
The Economic and Business Sustainability Advisory Committee voted last week to refer the agenda item to the June 28 council meeting.
The 12-month trial would involve three-hour free parking in Car Station 13 on Rowland Street, starting from December 1 2016.
Chief executive Don Burnett said the plan would help address parking concerns.
“The City is doing a lot of work to address parking issues and perceptions, including reviewing parking strategies and introducing new technology in our carparks,” he said.
“Council will consider a proposed 12-month trial of three-hour free parking in the Rowland Street car station at its June meeting.
“This carpark is used by shoppers and visitors to the area (as opposed to all-day parkers) and we want to see if they’ll stay a little longer or if it will attract more visitors to the area.
“Three-hour free parking is currently available in other nearby localities, such as Claremont Quarter.
“The City will undertake economic assessments to evaluate the economic benefit of three-hour free parking in the town centre.”
