Rokeby upgrades start
THE City of Subiaco has begun $4.3 million worth of upgrades on Rokeby Road’s streetscape to improve safety and aesthetics.
The works, which began last month, include multiuse lighting poles to accommodate banners and overhead signage, upgrades to median strips and raising the number of carparking bays to encourage alfresco dining.
Subiaco chief executive Don Burnett said the City was working to ensure minimal disruption to businesses and visitors. The City has co-ordinated the project with the Water Corporation and gas utility ATCO, which will also be holding works in Rokeby Road in the coming months.
“These upgrades are going to improve the look and feel of our iconic strip, fix some drainage issues and allow for safer pedestrian and vehicle movement,” Mr Burnett said.
“By the end of the year, visitors to the area will see better lighting, new street banners, street furniture and freshly paved surfaces.”
